Shared Reading Saturday Gallaudet Regional Center East has a once a month program that is free and open to all families with deaf and hard of hearing children. It’s called Shared Reading Saturday and it’s a program that aims to promote literacy, language access, and family communication from an early age. We provide a different picture book each month. Tutors will work with you to learn to sign the story with your child and each family goes home with a free copy of the book. Breakfast and lunch are provided as well as ASL accessible child care and activities. It’s a great social opportunity for signing families to get together and make connections. For this program I would recommend joining our mailing list. I send out the announcements with a link to register a couple weeks before each event.
